What Is WordPress?

WordPress is an extremely user friendly content management system for websites and blogs. Users can easily add and update text, images, video, audio and more using the WordPress platform. And with the right theme, no knowledge of web programming is required. Updating a WordPress based website can be as simple as changing a profile in Facebook, or creating a document in Microsoft Word. To sum it up in their own words:

Is A WordPress Theme A Website?

Essentially yes, although a WordPress theme cannot function independently without the WordPress platform. With the WordPress platforminstalled you can have a great website or blog represented by the theme of your choosing.

First and foremost, you must secure a website domain and hosting. Next, you will need the WordPress platform installed on your server. This can be accomplished quickly and easily using our Kahuna Host services. With the previous steps completed, install and activate your purchased theme within WordPress. We have provided installation instructions here.

WordPress.org vs. WordPress.com

Our themes are created for individual installations of the WordPress platform from wordpress.org. A website using the WordPress platform from wordpress.org is a professional content managed website giving you full control over the themes, features, code and hosting environment. In comparison, wordpress.com is a free blogging community offering a limited amount of themes and options within a restricted hosting environment. Unfortunately, our themes are not compatible with the wordpress.com blog community at this time. If you would like to use our themes, you will need to purchase hosting, a domain, and have the WordPress platform installed. This is a service we can offer via our Kahuna Host services if you are interested.
