The slideshow background can be further modified within Slideshow Post Background Settings in the post editor, as seen in the image below. Upload and save an image to display a full width background image. In addition, there are options to repeat a background image or change the color.

    We bought the response theme legend. Our question is how do you display the title and excerpt in the slide show? We found the section that says you can display it but what do you consider an excerpt and can you give us instruction how to put the wording into the slideshow with a picture in the background?

    Thanks,

    Hi,

    Is it possible to make the homepage to have the blog instead of a featured page?

    Thanks

    •  by  Matt McGee

      surerword, did you ever get a reply on that question? I’m wondering the same thing.

      •  by  Jaime Borschuk

        I am also seeking to answer this question. I am usually able to do this in the settings/reading section, but that doesn’t seem to work for this theme. Any help appreciated. Jeremy?

        •  by  Jaime Borschuk

          Figured it out: you have to create a page as a blog formatted page and then in the settings area, assign that page as the static page for the home page. Leave the blog page part blank.

          •  by  Jeremy

            Jaime,

            Please note that the appropriate place to ask support questions is here: http://www.organicthemes.com/support.

            If you set a static page as the blog page then you will break pagination (because the page is static). If you want the blog page as the homepage, one way would be to replace the contents of home.php with the contents of page-blog.php.

            Thanks!

    I am noticing that the slideshow loads very slow. Is this a function of the code? Does image size impact this, because the images are around 200kb. I like the slideshow, but it does me no good if it takes more time to load than what people spend on the page. any input is valued.

    •  by  Jeremy

      Hi Shayne,

      It should be loading in about the same time as it takes to load in the demo. If you’re running into problems, please submit a support ticket (organicthemes.com/support) and we would be glad to look into this with you.

      Thanks!

    Could you please explain, or update the Response Theme Legend, to cover what the “Post Format” options do???

    The Response Theme lists the following “Format” radio buttons options in the right column of Post Entries:

    * Standard
    * Gallery
    * Link
    * Image
    * Quote
    * Video

    But selecting any of them has no effect on the display of the Post. They are referenced in the description of the theme but I can find no coverage of what they are or do in the forums, Legend, etc.

    Thanks in advance for your reply.

    •  by  Jeremy

      Hi Shane,

      The post formats covered in the Codex entry are the post formats the theme supports. Depending on the post format, the layout will change, e.g. “gallery” formatted posts will have a post gallery, “link” formatted posts probably won’t use a template at all due to the link (usually external). The various post format templates are prefixed with ‘format-’, e.g. ‘format-gallery.php’, ‘format-link.php’, ‘format-quote.php’, etc. Do note that these templates are applied automatically (that is, aren’t selectable through the Page Attributes meta box on the post editor screen), and that the various layouts won’t differ too much from the default template.

      Thanks!

    We bought the response theme. Now we have the same question as Cindy. “Our question is how do you display the title and excerpt in the slide show?” There is title and text in the post and in the media, but nothing appears.
    In German language setup the ‘featured image’ link is NOT there. Took me a while to find out this bug…

    •  by  Jeremy

      Hi Wolfgang,

      You will need to add a manual excerpt to your posts to have the title and excerpt show in the slider. There should be an ‘Excerpt’ box beneath the primary post editor (TinyMCE), but in case you don’t see one you will need to click ‘Screen Options’ top right, and check the box beside the word ‘Excerpt’.

      Thanks!

    Hi Jeremy,

    another one: When I add a link to the excerpt the page brakes. Content below is then part of the slideshow….
    The link is added as recommended: http://codex.wordpress.org/Excerpt
    The code added is: <a href="”> Read More…
    Any idea?

    •  by  Jeremy

      That’s strange behavior. If you submit a support ticket (organicthemes.com/support) with a link to your site, I’ll take a look.

      Thanks!

    Using the Organic Themes and it doesn’t appear that we can use more than one menu at a time. We want to use a menu under the header as well as a different one in the side bar. But once we create a menu, it overwrites the main one. What can be done about this? Thanks.

  9.  by  Wolfgang

    Hmm,
    we got two homepage links now. The ‘standard’ home linked to the root of the domain, and the second one (called heimat in this case) which is linked to a page id.
    In Appearance » Theme options » Homepage I did the settings as recommended
    Display Slideshow? » avtivated
    Select Featured Page » the page “heimat”

    The plan is that the content of heimat is displayed below the featured slideshow.
    I would expect that home (in menu) is shown and heimat isn’t!?
    How to solve?

    AND

    How to change the homepage name “home”?
    thx

    •  by  Wolfgang

      Last point I already resolved.
      For the first issue I did a dirty one, with css » display: none of this li item.
      Is there a clean solution possible?

  10.  by  Jeremy

    Wolfgang,

    If you create a custom menu (Appearance –> Menus), you can resolve your menu issue without the need for additional CSS.

    Thanks!

    Thank you Jeremy! Your homepage blog suggestion worked perfectly.
