What do I need to use an Organic Theme?

You will need WordPress 3.0 or higher installed on your server. We offer instructions for installing the WordPress platform here.  Up to date server modules such as PHP5 are also required for certain features, such as Twitter integration. This is included with the vast majority of modern web hosts.

How do I install the theme?

We have outlined theme installation in greater detail here.

Am I allowed to modify the code?

Yes. Our licensing permits you to modify the code as much as you like after purchasing an Organic Theme. However, due to obvious constraints our support is only guaranteed for the original theme code.

Can I remove any credit/links to Organic Themes?

Yes. You are not required to provide credit or links back to Organic Themes, although we do appreciate it.

How customizable are the themes?

We have provided several options for managing Organic Themes. However, these options do not necessarily consist of major modifications to the layout or design of the theme. Custom solutions of this nature can be made within the code of the theme files.

Can I upload my own logo?

Yes. This option is provided with all of our themes.

How do I add featured images?

All of our themes utilize the post thumbnail function included with versions of WordPress 2.9 and higher. Featured images are added using this great new function and we outline the process in more detail in our theme documentation.

Can I display more/less images in the featured slider and control the time interval between transitions?

Yes. These options are provided within the Organic Theme options.

Can I change the link and theme colors?

Currently colors may be changed within the style sheet. We have designed and developed the themes to make this an easy modification.

Are the themes Search Engine Optimized?

Yes. By nature, WordPress is a very SEO friendly platform. We have made extra steps with Organic Themes to maximize SEO potential such as the proper usage and placement of the title, headings and valid code. In addition, third party plugins can easily be added to further increase Search Engine Optimization.

Can I display a blog on my theme?

Yes. We provide a blog page template with all of our themes.

Can I add plugins and widgets to the theme?

Yes. All of our themes have widgetized sidebars, and many include widgetized footers and featured sections. We have not encountered any plugin conflicts with the themes to date.

Can I add video to the theme?

Yes. Videos can be added in any page or post. Certain Organic Themes provide options to include featured videos on the home page. In addition, video can be added within any widgetized area.
