WordPress is an extremely user friendly content management system for websites and blogs. Users can easily update and change the text, images, video, audio and more of their site using the WordPress platform. And with the right theme, no knowledge of web programming is required. Essentially, although a WordPress theme cannot exist without the WordPress platform. With the WordPress platform installed you can have a great website or blog represented by the theme of your choosing.

It’s similar, but not the same. With a theme you are granted more control over the content displayed on your site than you would be using most conventional website templates.
